Her involvement began through her daughter Caroline's participation in high school and WAVE (Wayne Area Volleyball Enthusiasts), where Lydie served as a team mom and helped organize teams alongside Mickey Davis.
In 2016, Lydie and Mickey Davis co-founded WEVC with three teams, and their leadership has fostered steady growth within the club. Lydie's background with Tabacos De Wilson, Inc., and her roles as a Barton Alumni and board member further enhance her contributions to WEVC's development.
Known for her caring leadership and genuine passion for volleyball, Lydie prioritizes the well-being of players and coaches, creating a supportive environment at WEVC. Her tenure as Club Director reflects a commitment to excellence and community, crucial to the club's ongoing success.

With a background in baseball, basketball, and volleyball as both a player and coach, including stints as a high school basketball coach and athletic director, Curtis is well-prepared for his responsibilities. His expertise in administration, scheduling, and coaching will greatly contribute to the growth and success of WEVC.
Outside of his professional commitments, Curtis enjoys traveling and supporting his daughters in their club sports endeavors. His dedication to fostering a family-friendly atmosphere at WEVC underscores his commitment to both athletic excellence and community building among staff, parents, and athletes.

Whitley is in her second season coaching at Wilson Elite. She is a full-time student at Nash Community College, pursuing an Associates in Early Childhood Education. She plans to continue her education at North Carolina Wesleyan University for a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. With 9 years of volleyball experience, Whitley was previously a player at WEVC.
Shavon is a detective with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and an alumna of Fayetteville State University. She began her volleyball career in 6th grade, earning both academic and athletic scholarships in college. She began her volleyball career in 6th grade, earning both academic and athletic scholarships in college. Post-graduation, Shavon coached travel volleyball with Sandhills Volleyball Club in Fayetteville and led various rec leagues and Tarboro High’s varsity team. An experienced outside hitter, she played all six rotations and remains active in adult volleyball leagues.
Alexus is a detective with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and a Gardner-Webb University alumna. She began her volleyball career in 6th grade, playing varsity all four years in high school. As a multi-sport athlete, she earned scholarships to Gardner-Webb for basketball. Post-college, Alexus coached middle school volleyball at Community Christian School in Wilson and now referees basketball at various levels while staying active in adult volleyball leagues.
Suzanne has been coaching since age 22, starting at a small school in New Hampshire. After taking time off when her children were young, she returned to coaching JV volleyball at Faith Christian School in 2014 and moved up to JV and Varsity in 2016. She joined Wilson Elite last season as a 15U coach. A mother of three adult children, two of whom have cystic fibrosis, Suzanne has also run her own photography business since 2007.
Melissa has immersed herself in volleyball for over 30 years. Living in Nashville, North Carolina, with her husband Curtis and four children, her volleyball journey began at the age of 10 and continued through high school, where she also excelled in basketball and softball. Coaching volleyball at the JV/Varsity level for the past seven years has been a passion, sharing her love for the sport with her family.
With her son enjoying recreational play and her daughters participating in high school and collegiate levels, volleyball has become a cherished family activity. Melissa values teaching fundamentals and mentoring athletes to build confidence, emphasizing volleyball's teamwork and collective success. Excited for the upcoming season at WEVC, Melissa looks forward to the growth and achievements of her players.
Laurie joins WEVC this year as the 14U Assistant Coach, hailing from Wilson, NC. Her volleyball journey began in 7th grade and continued through a collegiate career at Pitt Community College. Since 2018, Laurie has worked at Truist Bank, currently serving as Branch Leader.
Outside of work and coaching, Laurie thrives outdoors, playing volleyball in her local church league and cherishing time with her family.
Coach Tab, our Head Club Coach at WEVC since its inception, is an alumna of North Carolina Wesleyan College, majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. Her athletic career includes 11 years of softball and 13 years of volleyball, competing from middle school through adult leagues, including college-level play as an OH/RS for the Battling Bishops.
With 25 years of volleyball coaching experience (alongside 7 years coaching softball), Coach Tab has led teams at various levels, including Rocky Mount High School, Edwards Middle School, and Cedar Creek Middle. She initially coached for WAVE, where she connected with Lydie Silverthorne, later joining WEVC for her 11th season.
Currently teaching Earth/Environmental Science and AVID at CITI High School in Rocky Mount, NC, Coach Tab brings boundless energy and enthusiasm to shaping young athletes both on and off the court. She plays a pivotal role in the club, fostering a culture of dedication and excellence among players.
Seantoya "Toya", originally from Killeen, TX, moved to Rocky Mount in March 2022. She graduated from Killeen High School in 2002 and joined the military in 2001 while still in high school.
Entering her second year as an assistant coach at WEVC, Toya brings diverse experience despite being new to coaching. She has umpired high school, middle school, and USA travel baseball since 2019, and refereed USA, high school, middle school, and travel volleyball since 2020. Since fall 2023, she has also served as a High School Football referee.
Toya is accompanied by Coach Onyx, the official WEVC mascot and her service dog.
With a robust leadership background, Toya started as a Human Resources Supervisor and concluded her military career as a Combat Medic in the US Army. Currently, she serves as the HR Lead for Rural King in Rocky Mount.
Chloe joins WEVC this year as an assistant coach with a strong volleyball background. Starting in 7th grade, she set her sights on playing at the collegiate level. Chloe attended Nash Central High School, where she made an immediate impact on varsity as a freshman. Throughout her high school career, she earned numerous awards and accolades, including selections to the all-conference team. Known for her leadership and hard work on the court, Chloe's dedication and passion have led her to achieve her dream of playing for NC Wesleyan University this fall. She is excited to bring her enthusiasm, determination, and strong work ethic to WEVC.
