Our History
The Wilson Elite Volleyball Club was co-founded in 2016 by Mickey Davis and Lydie Silverthorne. In its first year the club competed with three teams, a 14U team coached by Jillian Sherman and Catherine Barber, a 16U team coached by Tabitha Wilcox, and an 18U team coached by Tara McDonald and Jaleesa Harper. In 2017, the club grew to 6 teams (including two 18U teams). Lydie headed the club solo during the 2017-2018 season and has remained the club director through today. Evening and weekend practices were originally held twice a week in numerous Wilson County School gyms and churches. In 2018, we moved our practices to the Rocky Mount Event Center located in downtown Rocky Mount. This 16 court facility currently provides us with a single, centrally located venue to hold practices, meetings, and training for all of our teams at the same time. Since its founding, Wilson Elite has competed as members of Carolina Region Volleyball and USAV Volleyball traveling to numerous schools and sports complexes in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
